For our first ever participation in the Main Gallery Section of Frieze London this year, Chi-Wen Gallery is excited to bring a special joint-presentation of two artists, Victoria Sin and Su Misu, each with a solid background in the performative arts, who over the last year established themselves firmly in the international art world.
We are especially proud to be showing our video production of Victoria Sin’s performance piece “If I had the words to tell you we wouldn’t be here now”, which was staged and recorded at our gallery in Taipei last January. This work, commissioned by the gallery as part of the artist’s residency, was subsequently included in the special performance programme of the 58th Venice Biennale during its opening week. The presentation of the documentary film of the live performance will be supplemented with showings of other representative video works by the artist.
As a performance artist and photographer, Su Misu is known for exploring gender, BDSM and LGBTQ+ topics. We will be showing a cross-section of her photography and video works, which are often rooted in deep personal experiences, as well as those of close friends that are the subjects in her intimate pictures.
