Chi-Wen Gallery presents Yang Jie-Huai’s solo exhibition “I’m not capable of love” in August 2021. The exhibition title is derived from the artist’s work “How to explain love to an iPhone”, which addresses the dialectics between humans and machines and details the modern-day loss of emotion.
The exhibition explores the subject displacement between human and technological mediums in the information age and the methods used to transmit or receive emotion in the digital world as the boundaries between virtual and real life become blurred. The artist uses objects, installation and other media as means of inviting views to revive the perception of time and space.
Yang Jie-Huai (b.1992, Taichung) currently lives and works in Taipei, Taiwan. Drawing from his personal emotions and the absurdities of daily life, Yang uses sculptures, videos, kinetic installations and writing to comment on the information society.
