Roppongi Art Night, held in Tokyo’s Roppongi district, is a renowned festival celebrated for its diverse art forms and inclusive culture. This year’s theme, “City, Art, and the Festival of the Future,” introduces the new “RAN Focus” segment, which highlights contemporary art from different regions. The first focus is on Taiwan, curated by Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab (C-LAB), featuring installations, video, and performances that showcase Taiwan’s artistic energy.
The artist duo “Watermelon Sisters,” comprising Taiwanese artist Yu Cheng-Ta and Singaporean artist Ming Wong, will present their project “Watermelon Love.” In this performance, they transform into fairy sisters to address love inequality and spread joy, symbolizing gender diversity. The Watermelon Sisters will also debut a live show on the Roppongi Hills stage, offering a special performance for the festival.
